We have now added an approximate curreny converter, and changed the bid buttons, to add next bid, proxy bid and bid the reserve if set.

Auction lot bidding information and prices will now update live as the auctions ends. we have also added pagination options and grid view.

By request, we now send an email when an item on your watchlist is about to end, this can be switched off in your account section.

We are pleased to announce we have moved to a faster server. Which should improve speeds site-wide. We are also making some small changes to the catalogue list views and adding back the old grid view. All to make improvements on how the site works for you.

We would advise you to bid well in advance of the end of the sale to avoid possible problems with internet connections and hardware!

The auction software will place bids by proxy bidding in single bid increments to your maximum proxy bid, so once you have entered your maximum bid there is no need to be at your computer while the auction is coming to an end, the software will bid for you. Only you can see your proxy bid maximum.
The winning bid will be just one bid above the highest competing bid, similar to eBay.

If a reserve price is set on a lot, you can bid the reserve using proxy bids and it will always attempt to beat the reserve or press the bid the reserve button.

You are now able to lower your proxy bids, anytime prior to the lot end time.

Important Notice – Ivory, Mammoth, Tortoise shell, Rosewood.

There has been a restriction on Ivory and Tortoise shell exports out of the E U for some time. All bows that are restored and sold by Amber Violins have a face which is made from bone, not ivory or mammoth. If we have an old bow with an original face which appears to be either material, the face may be removed before shipping if the buyer is outside the E U. We can not send tortoise shell out of the E U, buyers can make their own shipping arrangements.

The Cites regulations now mean that any Rosewood instrument parts sent out of the E U need a license so rosewood pegs etc may be removed before shipping out of the E U.

Please see the information from a U S publication in the link below.

Please ensure we have you correct shipping and telephone details.

Buyers premium has been standardised to 20% on all lots.

We now accept telephone bidding on lots, please ensure you place your bids in good time.
